There are times when my time alone with God encourages me and motivates me. But there are some days God steps on my toes. Today is one of those days! One of the giants I face in life is comfort. I really never saw this as a problem until today. Most of us desire to be comfortable. We desire to stay in our zone and not do not rock the boat. I want to stay with what is familiar and safe. How about you?
God has called me out this morning. Faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. That doesn’t sound comfortable to me. The cross brought pain to Jesus in the same breath it brought freedom to us. We are alive today because of Christ discomfort on the cross. 2 Corinthians 12:10 says, ” For Christ sake, I delight in weakness, in insults, in hardship, in persecution, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” Faith thrives in discomfort.
I believe many of us are guilty of gathering in our churches and hanging out together in our comfort. While the Goliath’s of this world shout and intimidate us and we stand by like David’s brothers and do nothing. Lord, help me to have a heart and passion like David! God make me strong and help me to live a life that brings you glory even if it makes me uncomfortable. Move us God!
