I am a very patient guy except when it comes to heavy traffic, and what some people do durning those times! I am talking about “That Guy”. You know, “That Guy” when traffic is bumper to bumper, and all the cars are barely moving, because they have closed the far left lane to do repairs. The closed lanes are clearly marked but, “That Guy” sees his chance to skip about 50 cars and decides to speed up, and get in that closed left lane. Then he proceeds to zoom past you and other cars in front of him. But now “That Guy” has to get back over when that lane runs out! Then “That Guy” tries his best to stick the nose of his car between you and the car in front of you to get back over. Haha. I try my best to squeeze him out, in Jesus name. I know that is not very Christ like, but that really gets under my skin. Why? Because it is not fair! If I let him get away with it, he will get something he doesn’t deserve. What he deserves is to sit there and wait his turn. It’s only fair, right? Is anybody with me?
But it makes me think, what if God gave us what we deserved? What if God didn’t show us mercy and grace? No matter how hard we try to be good, we can’t be good enough. We could never live up to God’s standard. John 1:17 says, “For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” John 3:17 says, “For God didn’t send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but save the world through him.” How amazing is that? Do we deserve heaven and God’s grace? No, but God allowed me in line because He loved me. I didn’t deserve it, but He showed me grace! God knows I could have never reached His standards , so He sent Jesus. Wow! I was “That Guy”. Thank you Lord for your grace, mercy, and the gift of life found only in Jesus!
