What is the difference between forgiveness and cleansing? Have you ever stopped to think about that? The best way to illustrate the difference between the two has to do with cutting grass. It’s the difference between cutting the weed off at the root and just mowing over it. You see, forgivenesses has to do with the result of sin. Cleaning has to do with the cause of sin. Forgiveness comes by confession and restitution. Cleaning comes by walking in the light. Being in the presence of God.
1 John 1:5-9 says, “This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in darkness, we lie and do not live by truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies is from all sin. If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
To walk in the Light means, God will ask us to make lifestyle changes. The way we use our time, how we talk, and who you put first in our lives. Ask God to show you the root of your sin this morning. Then walk in close fellowship with the Father! You will not regret it! I hope you have a great Wednesday and I will see you tomorrow!
