It’s Sunday and it’s time to worship! I pray that you and your family are doing well. I want to share a short word this morning and I pray you will receive this message. Jesus said in Matthew 6:6, “But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” You can tell those people who pray in secret. They shine with the very glory of God. They seem to have a humble boldness about them, a gentle strength, and a quiet confidence.
But for most of us, the pace of life kills our prayer life. Finding time to pray, much less a “secret place” is hard to do with all that we have going on. Jesus understood this, Luke 5:15-16 says this, “Yet the news about him spread all the more, so the crowd of people came near to him and to be healed of their sickness. But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.” The secret place is where it is just you and God. It’s a place away from every distraction. A place where there is no show and tell. No fancy words used to impress others. Just you and the Creator of the world, where all pretense is gone. If Jesus needed this secret place, how much more do we need to get away and pray?
Make room for God in your life! Lord, help us to find that secret place where we can push aside the business of life. I worship and praise your holy name today!
