Worry Is An Option, Not An Assignment

Life is full of reasons to worry, especially in our world today! We go to bed worried that we won’t wake up and we wake up worried that we didn’t sleep. We worry about what we touch or who we come in contact with, will we get the Corona Virus? What will happen to us? How sick will I be, and the “what if” game begins. Wouldn’t you love to stop worrying? God offers us just that, a worry free life! Philippians 4:6-7 says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Worry alters nothing! Worry changes nothing. When we worry, it betrays a fragile faith. We don’t intentionally doubt God, but when we worry, essentially we doubt God. So, how do we stop worrying? Paul gives us a two prong answer here in Philippians chapter 4. God has His part to do, but we play a part too. Our part is to pray and be thankful. Do you want to worry less? Then pray more, and He will bring peace and protection. A believer’s prayer ushers in God’s peace. A peace that will guard your heart and your mind in Jesus Christ.

1 Peter 5:7 tells us this, “Cast all your anxiety on him, because he cares for you.” Worry is an option, not an assignment! God can lead you into a worry free life. But, be quick to pray and give thanks. Focus less on the problem ahead and more on the victories behind us. Remember how faithful God was to us in the past. As David would say, “God protected me from the lion and the bear, this uncircumcised Philistine does have a chance!” Don’t you love that? Let’s do our part, because we know God will do His! Pray and be thankful. Love you guys!
