Devotion requires discipline. Discipline is the bridge between your goals and your outcome. Discipline is doing what you are called to do even when you don’t want to do them. What you ingest is what you digest! What are you taking in? I want to encourage you to go to God’s Word. Take it in and digest it. Consume His Word. What I do daily is who I become permanently! I don’t just want to talk about God’s Word, I want to be devoted to it. Most people stop when they tired, but discipline people stop when they are done! Sometimes I don’t feel like reading my Bible, but I am not done! I am tired but I am not done! What are you devoted to? God bless you!
Good morning! I hope you are having a great week, and I pray that things are well with you and your family. I am looking forward to spending time with family and friends this weekend in Titusville, Florida! We are going to celebrate with the Grove Church what God is doing in their faith family. It’s amazing to see what God is doing in the heart of that city! To God be the glory!
Deuteronomy 6:4-5 says this, “The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.” We need to put this in front of our faces every day! We need to run through this verse over, and over again throughout the day. It is one thing to read this verse, but it another thing to apply, and to live it out. Has this verse ever come alive in your heart? This is a call to put God on the throne of your heart, and to make Him Lord of your life. This is so much more than going to church every Sunday and Wednesday. It’s about giving God first place in all that you do. It’s about practicing His presence and serving Him 24 hours a day. It is giving Him all that He deserves, and giving Him glory for what He has done in our life. It about going all in and holding nothing back.
I want to encourage you to let this verse sink in this morning. Don’t just read it and move on. Write it out on a piece of paper, and put it on your desk at work, or on the dash of your car. Take time to pray over this verse today. Ask the Lord, what does this look like in my life. What needs to change for this verse to come alive in me? I hope you have a great Thursday. Love y’all!
Romans 10:17 says, “Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the Word of Christ.” Did you catch that? Faith comes from hearing and knowing God’s Word! So consider these 3 things when it comes to God’s Word.
1. God’s Word is our food. If we want to experience the real, abundant, eternal life that Jesus offers, the only way is to consume his Word everyday. The same way your body needs food, our soul needs Jesus. A steady diet of Scripture is to the soul what a steak and potato is to the body. Fill your soul with the Word of God.
2. God’s Word is our weapon. Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the Word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double edge sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. When we face a spiritual attack or temptation, we can fight back using the Word of God as our weapon. We can not always prevent the attack, but we can prepare for it and be ready to use God’s Word in our defense. His Word is a powerful weapon!
3. The Word of God is our guide. Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” In a dark world, when nothing is certain, when all you see are shadows, and your not sure which way to go, the Word of God is the light you need to make it to your destination. Maybe you have gotten off course. Maybe you life has been hijacked by the enemy and your dreams have been crushed. You ended up in a place you never thought you would be. God’s Word will leads us back to the center of His love.
Consume it, fight your battles with it, and follow it as your guide. Great faith comes when we decide that His Word is enough. I love you guys! Have a great Saturday and don’t forget to devour the Word of God! It’s our daily spiritual food we need to be strong and to kick Satan butt. Haha
Good morning friends! Laura and I are taking off to Kentucky today to be with our youngest on her birthday tomorrow. It’s going to be a long trip but looking forward to spending time with family. Please pray for a safe journey. Thank you!
God’s Word has changed my life! I have been in church my whole life. I grew up in East Albany, Georgia and I went to church at Pine Bluff Baptist Church. The pastor’s name was Wallace Little. He baptized me when I was 5 years old. I remember having to stand on a cement block just to keep my head above the water! I will never forget that day. Let me tell you, he didn’t mess around! He was worried about hurting your feelings, or making sure you felt comfortable! He preached the Word without apology. He would get pretty excited too. When he got going, there was no stopping him. When that handkerchief came out, you better hang on! He didn’t tell fancy stories or have creative object lessons, but he preached the Word, and he didn’t mind telling you that Hell was a real place. Haha.
God’s Word is alive and well! I believe God wrote every Word through the leadership of the Holy Spirit. Every answer to life’s problems are found in the Bible. From the beginning to the end, Jesus Christ is the silver lining! If God said, we better believe it! His Word will stand the test of time.
What would happen if every Christian became a student of God’s Word? How would that change this world? How would that change the way we live? I want to challenge you this morning to dig deeper into God’s Word, not for more information, but to deepen that love relationship with the Father. It is like digging for hidden treasures and finding nuggets of truth daily. I pray that God will fill you with passion and a desire to know Him in a more intimate way! I pray that an unquenchable desire will overcome you and you will want more and more of God’s Word. Grab the Word, let it go deep! Then share it! Share it with those who need the Truth. Share with those who don’t know what true love is all about! Share it with a world that need grace and forgiveness. Share it with a world that needs Jesus! Amen??
Dig for the treasure, and share it! God bless!
