The Call of Elisha

1 Kings 19:19-21 says, “So Elijah went from there and found Elisha son of Shaphat. He was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen, and he himself was driving the twelfth pair. Elijah went up to him and threw his cloak around him. Elisha then left his oxen and ran after Elijah. “Let me kiss my father and mother good-by,” he said, “and then I will come with you.” “Go back,” Elijah replied. “What have I done to you?” So Elisha left him and went back. He took his yoke of oxen and slaughtered them. He burned the plowing equipment to cook the meat and gave it to the people, and they ate. Then he set out to follow Elijah and became his attendant.”

Elisha received a call of God and there was no plan B! In order to start a new chapter, you must end the old one. Elisha wasn’t just buying in, He was totally selling out. So many times we want God to do something new while we keep doing the same old thing! God is calling His church to a full court press. It’s sad to say but many Christians are getting comfortable with comfort.

Elisha had a very bold spirit, without a doubt. In 2 Kings 2:9 he even asked Elijah to inherit a double portion of his faith! How could he ask God for something like that? Simple fact: Elisha didn’t hold anything back from God!

What do you need to let go today and be totally sold out to Jesus Christ? Give Him first place today! No turning back, no plan B! He deserves our best.

Make sure to show someone the love of Christ today. Go out of you way to bless someone that God puts on your heart. Be obedient! Love y’all!

Grab Your Oxgoad

Judges 3:31 says, “After Ehud came Shamgar son Anath, who struck down six hundred Philistines with an oxgoad. He too saved Israel.

One decision, one change, one risk, one idea! That’s all it takes! You don’t have to make 100 changes, but you have to be committed to one thing. One thing will change your life. This was all the press that Shamgar would ever get in scripture. One daring decision, that delivered the entire nation! One risk turned 15 minutes of fame into a model of courage that inspired a nation to fight back! One man refused to be ruled by unrighteousness. He had no army, and no artillery. All he had was an oxgoad, which was a long stick that prodded his animals.

If God is for you, who can stand against you? Courage doesn’t always wait for an perfect plan. Courage doesn’t always wait for the popular opinion. Courage only waits for one thing. A green light from God!

It committing yourself to be a part of the solution and having a heart for Christ. It about becoming the hands and feet of Jesus Christ. Use what God has given you. “Your oxgoad” Make a Mark. Make a difference!

God bless and have a great Friday.

Ultimate Living

Good morning! It’s Saturday and I am enjoying my time alone with God without being rushed. It’s so good just to rest in His presence and to be refreshed after a long week.

What would you call ultimate living? Each one of us would probably have our own idea of what that would look like. To me, ultimate living is living a life that is exciting and filled with adventure, passion, and full of love! It’s also knowing that I am doing exactly what I was created to do!

Every Christian is called to be on mission for Christ! He is calling each one of us on an adventure of a life time. Answering the call of the Creator is the ultimate “why” for living. The call of Christ is twofold. First, He calls us to a life changing relationship with Him.

Romans 5:8 says, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for you.” What an amazing love. Acts 4:12 reads like this, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.” John 14:6 says, “Jesus answered, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” If we want to live the ultimate life with adventure, purpose, and impact, we must first make sure that we are in a personal, intimate love relationship with Jesus Christ!

God’s first call is by faith in a person and work of Jesus Christ. Open your hearts door to Him today! Let Him take control. Before we are called to make a difference, He has called us to Himself.

The second part of our call to God is this: God calls us to a lifetime mission alongside Him. God is calling you to partner with Him! That’s right. The very Creator of the universe wants to partner with you! We are not called to live for Christ, but to live in Christ. He is not really concerned with what we are doing for Him, as He is about whether we are willing to be obedient alongside Him in what He already is doing. We are saved to be sent! We were blessed to be a blessing. Yes, salvation is a gift, but with that gift comes an responsibly. The call to salvation and the call to ministry are one and the same call!

Missing something in life? Needing something fulfilling? Wanting to find purpose? Tired of feeling empty? Surrender your heart and life to the person of Jesus Christ. Partner with God and live a life of adventure! Yes Lord! The ultimate living!
