The Shelter

David writes Psalm 121:1-2 and says, “I lift my eyes to the hills-where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.” There is a place of protection for the believers of Jesus Christ. A spiritual fortress in Christ that protects us from the attacks of Satan. The more we possess a true knowledge of our Father, the more accessible His provisions for us become. David knew of this stronghold. David writes in Psalm 18:1-2 and tells us, “I love you, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” He knew the Living God as a spiritual stronghold, a place of safety, and a mighty shelter.

Where do we find this shelter? It all begins by loving Jesus! John 14:21 Jesus says, “Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by the Father, and I to will love him and show myself to him.” If we pursue Christ in love and obedience, He promises to progressively reveal Himself to us! There is so much more to this relationship with Jesus than we can ever imagine. The Lord continually watches over our lives. He cares for us and He loves us with an everlasting love. He sees our unspoken thoughts and He knows the motives of our hearts. He know everything about us. But, He loves us anyway!

He is not only Creator, but He is our Father. We belong to Him, even when we don’t sense His presence. He is watching, working, and guiding us to Himself. His greatest priority is to renew us in His image. Where does your help come from? Who do you turn to when life seems to fall apart? I want to encourage you today to turn to the One who loves you the most. I have seen His strength, I know His heart, and I have experienced His love! Know what I this; He will not keep you from hard times, but He will see you through the hard times. Trust Him!

My Father Has Big Guns

Good morning! My father is and always will be my hero! Growing up, he was always a constant in my life. He never missed a game and rarely ever missed a practice. Not only was he a great dad to me, he always took up time with my buddies that didn’t have a dad. Growing up, we had a set of concrete weights with a medal bar. Me and my brother would mess around with them in the yard. I remember load up the bar with 110 lbs. and trying to dead lift it. Man, we were getting it done! It was all I could do to pull that weight to my waist. Then my dad showed up and said, “I can pick that up with one hand over my head.” There was no way! So, he bent over and grabbed that long bar with 110 lbs of concrete weight. Then he let out a loud grunt and threw that weight over his head! At that point in my life, I pictured him as Super Man. You see, my dad, had the guns!💪 As a child, when I was with my dad, I feared nothing. I knew he was watching over me and I knew he would protect me no matter what. I was in the presence of Super Man.

While we are living life in a world of uncertainty, we tend to walk in fear. Businesses are closing their doors, people are losing their jobs, and you are wondering will I get the virus. Some many negative thoughts are running through own minds. The author of Psalm 91 speaks of a place of security that I want to share with you this morning. Psalm 91:1-4 says, “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say if the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.”

I want to encourage you today to sit down in the presence of the Mighty God, and hand Him your worries and fears. Say this; “God you are my refuge, I trust in you and I’m safe. Know this, he recuse us from hidden traps, shields us from deadly hazards. His huge outstretched arms protect you! Under them you are perfectly safe. Our Heavenly Father has the “Big Guns.” Fear Nothing while you are walking in the presence of God. Stay positive and turn your attention to the God of the universe! God bless!
